IBD: Making Sense of Medicare Part D
IBD Insurance is Here to Help!
Medicare Part D is a type of prescription drug coverage benefit that is provided by Medicare. It covers both brand name as well as prescription drugs and offers protection to people who have really high drug expenses. In order to qualify for this type of coverage, you must be at least 65 years of age. You can also qualify when you become eligible for Medicare, which is usually three months before you turn 65 years of age. But let's face it; figuring out your health insurance has never been particularly fun. Sifting through tons of paperwork and having to figure out who to call in order to make sense of your health coverage can be a real pain. At IBD Insurance, we have qualified agents who will help you make sense of your individual health care plan. IBD Insurance: A Cut Above the Rest!
Effective January 1, 2008, BCBSNC added more than 40 brand name drugs into the lower-cost drug classification category to make them more affordable. Additionally, BCBSNC waived the copayment on all generic medications that treat congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. This was all part of a new medication adherence program called Medication Dedication, which is a program designed to make prescription drugs more affordable as well as encourage members with chronic conditions to take their medications as directed.
The implementation of this program bears some significance because national studies show that approximately 125,000 people die each year from cardiovascular problems that stem from not taking their medications as they were originally prescribed. This has cost tax payers around $100 billion annually. According to BCBSNC vice president of Employer Health and Pharmacy, "We have shown that when patients can afford their medication, they take their medication. Applying a copayment waiver for generic drugs used to treat specific conditions is the next logical evolution in our ongoing efforts to help control health care costs. At IBD Insurance, we understand how important it is to have quality coverage that doesn't drain your bank account. Don't allow yourself to become intimidated by all of the different health care plans out there; call IBD today and we'll walk you through it step by step so that it makes sense.
