3 Body and Mind Healthy Adventures for This Summer
Summer is just around the corner – can you believe it? It’s amazing how fast the time goes and it won’t be long before the summer is over again. How about planning a get away? A healthy getaway is a great way to reconnect with your family and rekindle love that may have dwindled in the while drudging through the cold winter and the 9-5 battle.
Here are 3 short adventures to reinvigorate the mind and body:
Hiking the Application Trail
Since reading the hilarious book “A Walk in the Woods†by Bill Bryson, I have been intrigued by the idea of taking a hike along the amazing Appalachian Trail. In the book, Bryson and his friend, 2 middle aged, overweight guys set out on an adventurous hike along the 2,100 mile trail to challenge themselves. Their trek is one of humor and proves that you don’t have to be in fantastic shape to have a healthy adventure in nature. Don’t feel like you must brave the entire trail, even conquering parts of it over several days can be an exciting, adventurous getaway.
Tubing and Rafting
How about a little water to go with your outdoor camping experience? There are lots of places to go tubing throughout the United States. From Tennessee to Colorado, a search for “tubing trips†in your favorite search engine will reveal all kinds of adventure trips.
Walking Tours
What better vantage point to experience a new place than by foot? There are groups like Walking Adventures International that organize walking tours all around the world. Most organized walking tours that can be found online take place in countries other than the US such as Europe and Canada. Perhaps this is because of America’s love of the automobile which is both a help and a burden. Remember how exciting the world was when you were a kid as you would walk and explore the outdoors, taking time to stop the flowers? A walking tour is a great way to get exercise and get back that sense of exploratory excitement about the world around you.
