Water, Water, Water

water.jpgWater is the single most important thing you can drink throughout the day. Yet, many people fail to include water in their diets at all. Rather, they choose to consume nothing but pop, sports drinks, alcohol, and other beverages instead.

The reality is that no other beverage compares to water when it comes to keeping you healthy. In fact, other beverages can actually dehydrate you rather than hydrate you, even if you do feel as if your thirst has been quenched after you drink that Pepsi.

Since drinking other beverages dehydrates you and everything you do throughout the day requires using your body’ s moisture in some way, most people are walking around in a constant state of dehydration This is unhealthy for a variety of reasons.

One problem with being perpetually dehydrated is the fact that your organs need to be hydrated in order to work properly. If they are not properly hydrated, they have to work harder in order to do their jobs. This means you are at an increased risk of organ failure.

Of course, being dehydrated is bad for other parts of your body as well. Is your skin looking dry? This is likely due to dehydration. Even if it doesn’t appear dry, you are causing your skin to prematurely age when you continually deprive it of proper hydration.

If you are not already making a conscious effort to include more water in your diet, now is the time. You should strive to drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses of water each and every day. This means you will likely need to drink water more often than just at mealtime. In fact, it is best to keep a bottle or glass of water with you at all times – even at your desk at work. This way, you can continually drink throughout the day and make sure your body receives the water it needs to properly function.
