Benefits of Massage Therapy

If you live and work in the United States, chances are pretty high that you’re going to stress yourself out at some point by overworking your mind and/or your body. Face it, we’re workaholics over here. There are deadlines to meet, meetings to attend, presentations to present and sporting events to participate in. The average American will wake up in the morning and sit in rush hour traffic to try to get to work on time by 9am. Once at work, he/she will have phone calls, meetings, disgruntled employees to deal with and things that simply won’t work out the way you want (depending on your job). Once they leave work, they’ll sit in more rush hour traffic for all of the people heading home from work . Sometimes, after work, you might go for a run or to the gym to work out (even though you’re tired). THEN, after you’re done working out, you come home, make dinner, shower, spend time with your family and go to bed only to repeat the exact same day tomorrow!massage-therapy-70.jpg

All that being said, it’s no wonder that there are more massage therapy offices popping up all over. With stress, there must come some sort of relief, and massage therapy provides this sense of relief. Some of the benefits that massage therapy can provide include:

  • increases joint flexibility
  • lessens depression & anxiety
  • reduces stretch marks and scars by promoting tissue growth
  • improves circulation by pumping more O2 and nutrients to vital organs in your body
  • reduces spasms and cramping and relaxes overworked muscles
  • reduces lower back pain

If you can’t afford a massage therapist, have your partner do it for you. You can treat each other to relaxing massages at the end of your busy workdays. It’s a great way to bond with your spouse and get some sort of muscle relief at the same time!
