Lower Your Blood Pressure by Breathing!
It has been known for a long time that slow breathing and meditation can dramatically lower blood pressure, which is one of the major risk factors for heart attacks as well as strokes. According to a health article published by MailOnline, a company called Intercure Inc. manufactured a device called Resperate back in 2000, which just became available for sale in the United States in April of 2008. According to the web site, Resperate is

It is the only medical device clinically proven to lower blood pressure through paced breathing therapy and is available for sale without a prescription (over-the-counter, OTC).
To further explain, Resperate looks like a portable CD player and monitors how many breaths the user is taking per minute. It then plays musical notes (hear through the headphones) in which the user is supposed to breathe in on one note and breathe out on the other. As time goes on, the length of the notes is gradually increased so that the person is forced to slow down their breathing.
The person using the device also has a sensor that is strapped around his/her chest, which monitors their breathing rates for a few minutes before sending the data back to the handset. Inside the handset is a micro-chip which figures out what the ideal breathing rate is for the person before assigning the musical tones for them to breathe to. And how is it working? Very well, it would seem. Results have showed that simply using Resperate for 15 minutes a day can cut blood pressure significantly, which spells out nothing but good things when it comes to your health.
