How do I qualify for the Inclusive Health plan?
The new Inclusive Health plan (also known as the North Carolina Health Insurance Risk Pool, the high risk pool, or North Carolina guarantee issue plan) is an individual health insurance plan for North Carolinians who do not have access to an employer health plan and face higher premiums for individual insurance due to a pre-existing medical condition. Inclusive Health is available for participants beginning January 1, 2009. In order to be eligible for the plan, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a resident of North Carolina
2. Your current health insurance premiums, including COBRA premiums, are very high or you have been declined for individual health insurance – if you have not applied for individual health insurance first, you may start the process here – www.ibdinsurance.com
3. You have been diagnosed with a presumptive qualifying medical condition
This is an overview of the requirements for Inclusive Health. Please call us at 800-615-5980 to discuss your specific situation. If you meet these criteria, and would like more information, please call us. Inclusive Health applications must be completed and returned to IBD Insurance Services, Inc. before the 15thof each month in order to be effective the first of the following month.
