NC Health Insurance Plans for Kids

In 1998, North Carolina came up with a new plan called NC Health Choice for Children. This plan is for families who make too much money to qualify for Medicaid but not enough money to qualify for rising health insurance premiums. This is a very important program for children because of the dire consequences that children face when they lack proper health care.

Too often when a family is uninsured or under insured they will wait until their child is extremely ill before seeking treatment. At that point what could have been handled with a prescription of antibiotics is now a full blown problem that could have very well been avoided.

NC Individual and Group Health Insurance Plans

For those who are not part of the North Carolina General Statutes they may not be covered under this provision and therefore would have to seek health insurance from another source. There are a number of NC individual health insurance plans available for people who do not have access to group insurance, as well as NC group health insurance plans for those who have fewer than 49 employees, those who have over 49 employees, and for those who are seeking to fill in the Medicare gaps.
